I fell in love with Tahoe for many of the same reasons my clients seek this place as a destination for their wedding. There is a definite Tahoe feel and laid back approach to life here that instantly puts everyone in a relaxed state of mind. I was born in Scotland and spent my first 9 years in a small village with my sisters and parents. From the Bay Area to LA to travels around Europe, I found myself seeking a tight knit community in a haven of nature with an abundance of outdoor activities. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, I took a few months off to enjoy Tahoe’s ski season and never left. What can I say, life here is pretty good!
My background in planning and marketing large-scale annual fundraising events with celebrities, restaurants and TV networks pivoted to a move into the hotel industry, where I spent several years working for PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn as the Sales and Events Manager. From high-profile corporate events to fundraisers and weddings, I fell deeper in love with the intricacies of planning and ever changing fast pace environment of events. My passion to provide a curated and personalized planning approach while working with a variety of unique venues to build from the ground up, lead me to open One Fine Day Events. We are a big thinking, ever progressing event planning & production company dedicated to perfection. After 15 years in the event industry I can proudly say my clients continue to challenge and inspire me to grow and approach each event with a fresh set of eyes and unbridled enthusiasm.
Outside of my work life, I’m a wife and mama to our sweet baby boy, Rory, and our Bernese Mountain Dog, Tessa. My husband and I love to still enjoy the great outdoors in Tahoe – from paddle boarding to biking, skiing to snowshoeing, we find a way to strap Rory on our backs and raise him in this gorgeous place we are so fortunate to call home.
As a principal planner Vanessa has planned and executed numerous high-profile events with magnificent success and is adored by our clients and the many vendors we work alongside. She has the ability to organize and streamline even the most disorganized brides and grooms with ease and grace. As a lover of old world romance and glamour, weddings are the perfect match for her kind personality and driven attitude.
Vanessa started at One Fine Day Events with years of restaurant management and event experience and her keen eye for design was quickly revealed. As a designer, Vanessa works very closely with our clients to help determine their style before the design process even begins. Always an innovator, Vanessa is responsible for coming up with unexpected decor accents that our clients didn’t realize they loved. Vanessa is the type of planner that does not rest until she knows she has nailed every single aspect of the couple’s vision to a tee. Her favorite part is when everything comes alive on the event day and seeing the happiness spread across the faces of the families.
Kiki has a hunger for the great outdoors and a sense of down-home hospitality. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, she kindled her innate interest to entertain and plan while studying public relations in college. After a year abroad in Germany, she returned to the bay area emboldened and ready to take on any challenge. She joined the ranks of acclaimed event planner Alison Events where she gained invaluable experience and exposure to the unique blend of premiere vendors and discerning clientele from across the globe. She is family oriented, dog obsessed, and loves to entertain for her family, friends, and neighbors. Hospitality runs in her veins and she is passionate about getting to know her clients and understanding their vision to help make any dream a reality.
Kiki joined the team to learn, challenge herself daily, and grow creatively. She has been a bubbly hard-working addition to the event planning process. When she’s not working on production schedules, placing rental orders, or ironing out logistical challenges, she’s hiking with her dogs, rock climbing, taking a boxing or yoga class, or whipping something up for family and friends in her kitchen.
Born and raised in Truckee, California this jack of all trades knows a thing or two about almost anything. Prior to One Fine Day Events, Libby was a nutritionist, chef, EMT, large game hide tanner, yoga teacher, backpacking guide, caterer, you name it, this girl has done it. After catering and coordinating high profile events across California she returned to her stomping grounds to take on the Lake Tahoe event scene.
Bringing an eclectic range of skills to the table, Libby’s incredible calm mixed with a ‘get-stuff-done attitude’ makes her an unbelievably patient asset to the team. Always making sure that her clients voices are heard, she can collaborate and delegate in any fast-pace environment the industry tosses at her. Taking on more responsibilities within the company comes naturally to Libby, and we are thankful for her ability to tackle any and all details and to have her on the team.
A forward-thinking Iowa native, Katie is always looking for ways to collaborate and problem solve the design and production process. Being a mover and a shaker she has lived across the globe, but is happy to call Lake Tahoe home. After majoring in product development, she moved to California to become a ski instructor and took flight in the summer months to focus her energy towards high impact solutions. Transitioning from the mountains of Tahoe to Ugandan heat came easily to her as she was able to manage the day to day operations of a non-profit’s vocational development program.
Katie has worn many hats that have lead her from executing university fashion shows, creating custom wedding gowns, improving guest’s spa experience at Martis Camp, teaching skiing at Northstar, honing her creative skills at Bespoke, and eventually into the One Fine Day office. Katie loves spearheading anything behind the scenes and anchoring our office.
