The Knot’s pick of best outdoor sites features the Redwood Grove at the UC Botanical Gardens. This place is beautiful ~ the tall redwood trees create a very magical and romantic setting while the amphitheater creates an atypical but intimate ceremony site. We coordinated Christine and Tom’s wedding here last August. Everything from the floral arrangements to the voluptuous redwoods was stunning and caught the guests by surprise.
The service started with the bridesmaids and groomsmen entering from behind the guests as tradition states, but the bride and her father walked through the trees down a winding path in front of the amphitheater, allowing the guests to sneak a peak of the bride in between the tree trunks and the greenery. During the service, Christine’s brother joined the musicians by playing the violin. It was romantic, peaceful, and perfect!

Hi Stephanie,
Happy New Year. Hope you are well. Just saw this Web page. It looks great. Congrats. Simply wanted to updatea couple of facts in the description above: My brother, Andre, played the clarinet. The musicians were from the Sterling Trio, organized by Janet Maestre. The San Francisco Strings Web Site though is how I found out about them. The DJ, Mark Haggerty (excellent) was from Denon & Doyle at http://www.djay.com
I can’t say enough good things about the florist Karen of Grandi-flora. She was outstanding and a true professional collaborator every step of the way. Her work is beautiful. Finally, I spent a good deal of time looking at the work of videographers and Martin Meyer delivers outstanding results at a competitive price point. He captured the day beautifully without editorializing in a heavy-handed way, which is something I often find with the work of videographers. You can look at this short brief, share it if you’d like, here: http://www.subterrain.com/canabou.html
The cake (passion fruit) was by Masse’s Pastries http://www.massespastries.com/ and this is a place that knows it stuff. The pastry chef/owner, Paul, has traveled extensively for inspiration/training and in his early years worked at places like the Ritz for years. All of my vendors I would work with again–no question.
