Venuelust Interviews Stephanie Martin of One Fine Day Events

At One Fine Day Events we are constantly searching for fresh and vibrant spaces for our events to take place. It's the best feeling to completely fall in love with a new venue and get excited about all the possibilities for making an event there an experience that everyone will remember forever. One Fine Day's founder, Stephanie Martin, was recently interviewed by Venuelust - a company that shares our passion for unique celebration spaces around the globe. If this type of thing sparks your fancy as well, check out the full Q & A to hear Steph's advice on finding and transforming the perfect Lake Tahoe location for your wedding.

Venuelust is a digital media company that specializes in marketing “Off the beaten path” luxury venues for celebrations, getaways and experiences. It makes me giddy with excitement to visit their website and dream about what it would be like to, say, rent a private island for a family reunion. I really dig the site because similar to the philosophy behind One Fine Day Events, the website provides a customized experience. Depending on your style or event type you can search for venues that speak your language - from secret haciendas to castles to luxury safari camps! Here are a few that completely knocked my socks off.

Wine Country Wedding Video from Reel Eyes

This wine country wedding from One Fine Day Events exudes sophistication and elegance. Their romantic ceremony site incorporated draping and greenery with the vineyard as the backdrop. After a rockin' al fresco cocktail hour the guests moved inside the barn, which looked glam and chic with a canopy of overhead lighting and a lot of gold accents. Check out all the stunning details in their wedding video from Reel Eyes. You can feel the emotion behind this stunner of a wedding that took place in the very place Alex and Marissa first fell in love.

Private Estate Tour | Sandy Shores Cove

A few days ago we teased you with a little sneak peak into a few of our gorgeous private estates. Today, we are starting our tour by introducing you to one of our favorites, The Sandy Shores Cove Estate! Nestled atop a bluff and protected by the wind, Sandy Shores Cove boasts a gorgeous lawn, a lodge-style home, and access to a private sandy beach. Tall old growth pine trees surround the perimeter of the property, creating the perfect overhead canopy for an open air or clear tent reception. The long stretch of lawn creates plenty of space for spreading out the ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Plus, no matter where you are on the property, you have a panoramic view of Lake Tahoe! Private Estate Tour | An Introduction to our Collection of Private Estates

Wow that was one amazing wedding season!! As we reminisce all the events we had the pleasure of planning and designing this past Summer, we wanted to introduce you to our gorgeous collection of private estates. One of the greatest parts of a private estate wedding or event is the completely unique environment it creates for both the couple and the guests. No stuffy ballroom or standard cookie cutter details, instead a private estate provides a completely unexpected atmosphere. The guests have no idea what to expect before they arrive so you have an instant moment of drama as they walk through the gates and arrive at your gorgeous celebration. Plus, the backdrop of the estate combined with the mountains and the lake is breathtaking! While each property has it's own shape of a lawn, collection of trees and plants, or sometimes even a little slope, we have worked with every tree stump, every odd shape, and every obstacle to ensure an alluring and very comfortable space for both your down to earth friends as well as your more sophisticated guests that may be expecting the comforts and amenities of a ballroom environment. No matter what the weather forecast or the terrain, we always consider every ounce of comfort and need the guests may crave. In addition, we create custom scaled floor plans of the event space. This becomes quite a huge benefit to our clients as they need to know how much space each element (the tent, the tables, the dance floor, etc) will require and how much space the property provides for everything they want to have at their celebration. So without further ado, here is a sneak peak of our properties we will be introducing you to over the next couple weeks!!

To view all of our properties, click here. And if you're interested in learning more about these beauties, feel free to give our studio a ring - we would be happy to show you around the different estates in our collection!

Press | One Fine Day Events Interviewed by CNBC

CNBC Interview with One Fine Day EventsHoly Moly!!! I am SO excited to share this news! A few months ago we received an inquiry from CNBC....yup that big massive network! They requested to interview me regarding scams in the wedding industry and the article is now live on their site! Unfortunately, we are quite familiar with these scam artists and the ugly side of planning a beautiful celebration. From gift theft, to inflated irrational pricing, to blatant money thieves, we have witnessed it all! A few years ago we created a post on our blog to warn our fellow wedding planners and vendors about this lovely fella pretending to be a groom. It has since attracted the attention of over 60 planners across the country and hopefully prevented anyone from falling victim to this scam artist! The CNBC article is a great read for both brides and grooms planning a wedding as well as vendors involved in the industry. Read the entire article here - we are on page 2 - scam number 5!

Five Wedding Planning Scams

I am so incredibly proud and excited to be featured in this article. What a great way to start 2014!!

In the Press | One Fine Day Events featured in Grace Ormonde

We're so excited to share our winter wedding that was featured in Grace Ormonde's Fall & Winter 2012 issue!!! Liisa & Ethan's  Lake Tahoe wedding was magical in all the ways a winter wedding could be - complete with freshly fallen snow and a gorgeous couple! With the help of the magnificent Catherine Hall capturing the day's events and PlumpJack providing the beautiful venue this wedding was absolutely stunning!

From our Grace Ormonde feature ~

When convincing her to move into the vacant room in his San Francisco home, Liisa Hunter’s best guy friend promised that she would never see their third housemate. And indeed, the ghost man—an investment banker, competitive sailor, skier, biker and surfer—was hardly ever around … until the accident.

Ethan Doyle says that shattering his leg and ankle while skiing changed him from the person who was never home to the cripple living on the couch. “My guy friends were great for the first week or so,” he says. “But then Liisa took on the role of friend and nurse. She helped me survive.” Ethan and Liisa were falling in love, but neither were ready to ruin the friendship, so Liisa moved out.

For the next year and a half, Liisa kept comparing every other man she met to Ethan, and when she went to visit him they decided to start dating. Two years later, and the night before moving together from San Francisco to New York City, Ethan took Liisa to their favorite French restaurant. He had the ring and her parents’ permission, and says, “It finally all came together. It was the right time and the right place.” And the going away party their friends had planned quickly turned into an engagement party.

For a sports-loving couple, a ski weekend at the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn was the ideal winter wedding setting. However, mountain blizzards raged for weeks leading up to their date. Then, three days before, the weather cleared and left perfect snow and almost spring-like temperatures. The day before the celebrations, Liisa, Ethan and 30 family members and friends spent a “glorious” day on the slopes together. On their wedding day, while Liisa and the girls were in hair and makeup, Ethan and his buddies hit the trails again.

The ceremony, as written by the bride and groom, centered on the Buddhist philosophies of contentment and kindness and made for a meaningful service. With overtones of a James Bond movie, the atmosphere of the reception was relaxed, but with exquisite food, high-quality wine, gowned women and men in black-tie. Candlelight and the dramatic dark red of Ingrid Bergman roses punctuated the ambiance. In a nod to the mountains, birch wood bark wrapped the altar, a large chandelier, candles and the base of the cake.

As a sweet gesture of hospitality, Ethan learned to welcome members of Liisa’s family in their native tongue. “He told them that he loved me and can’t wait to visit Finland,” says Liisa. To honor the couple, members of the wedding party read poems and brought humorous props to support their “incredible” speeches. A big hit of the night was a groomsman who had secretly arranged to sing a song with the band. “He was so good we didn't even realize it was Rob until someone pointed him out,” says Liisa.

After dining and dancing, the bride and groom slipped away to get just a little sleep before an early morning flight to Hawaii where they windsurfed, soaked up the sun and enjoyed their newlywed status.

This week on Tahoe Unveiled we were enveloped with Spring Fever!! We also had a whole "bohemian" wedding theme going, which I just love! The Bohemian vibe is all about laid back glamour with rich colors and vibrant decor. We also got a dose of swoon with a fabulous real wedding that took place amongst the mountains on the valley floor of Squaw - Gorg!

Since we're on this whole Springtime Bohemian vibe this week I've decided to cap this lovely week off with a beautiful inspiration from one of our very own wedding planning vendors, One Fine Day Events! This lovely inspirational here to read the rest of the article!

Tahoe Unveiled's Weekly Juice!

This week our sister site brought new meaning to the word beauty with all of our gorgeous inspiration! We were convinced to throw a few beautiful and delicate anemones into our wedding bouquet, got all sorts of juicy scoop from grooms who tell their side of the wedding story, were inspired to bring back the classic beauty, pearls, into our wedding repertoire, and last but not least we were super duper excited to feature one of our favorite weddings from this summer at Martis Camp! I hope everyone has  a great weekend and enjoys this *possibly* last bit of snow we're getting!

Whenever I look at flowers and wedding bouquets, I’m inevitably drawn to the delicate pink and white flowers with fuzzy blue/black centers.  Those frame-worthy florals here to read the rest of the post!

Most of the time, I’m just as buried under the tulle and tiaras as any girl. But just to change things up a bit, I decided to jump the fence and get some here to read the rest of the post!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Planner | Real Weddings

Eeek! I could jump in the air and scream I'm so excited! Our most recent Lake Tahoe weddings from this winter and last summer are now on our gallery!! Here are a few highlights:

Lake Tahoe wedding at Martis CampFresh, bright, and full of life! This wedding took place at Martis Camp in Truckee, CA - a stunning location amidst cascading mountains and a big beautiful red barn! We incorporated the bride's love for pop art into every detail throughout the wedding. Each festivity had a different patterned blue linen along with unexpected decorative elements. To read all about this wedding, you can check out the feature on Style Me Pretty!

Lake Tahoe lakefront WeddingRachel and John's Tahoe lakefront wedding took place at the Mourelatos Resort in Tahoe Vista, CA. Their first date took place at a french restaurant, so it only made sense to carry out this tasty cuisine at their wedding! We added a few French touches to the beach decor within the details. Fresh tahoe sand accompanied the peony arrangements and wicker platforms, while blue and white seer sucker linens and French country toile fabric decorated the table linens and escort cards! The overall feel was light, fresh, and romantic!

Lake Tahoe bbq on the lakeTo welcome all of the guests who traveled around the country to celebrate AJ & Ted's wedding, we held a Caribbean Welcome Party at the Gatekeepers Museum, a lakefront venue in Tahoe City! All guests were invited to enjoy cocktails, music, and a gourmet burger bar on the lake! Adirondack furniture accompanied fire pits, couches, and bistro lights to provide a comfortable, warm, and inviting setting! As the bride is from Bermuda and the groom is from the west coast, we incorporated details from both families. We had a Caribbean Steel Drum band performing by the lake, while guests enjoyed Mojitos & Dark & Stormy's at the tikki bar. The groom's family shares a huge love for horses, thus the groom's mom created a western ranch motif for the cocktail napkins and the branded necklaces. The groom himself had one request - fresh shucked oysters! So, Hog Island Bar served up juicy oysters nearby Moody's gourmet burger bar!

Bohemian wedding decorEvery once in a while we will get together with a few of our favorite vendors and work on a unique design for an editorial photo shoot! It's a great way for us to play around with our design ideas! This particular shoot was inspired by a shower curtain I found at Cost Plus! I couldn't resist the shades of turquoise, so we cut the bad boy into two strips and created table runners! Bellissima Floral designed the amazingly bold flowers and Matt Theilen produced the stunning photos! The backdrop of  Lake Tahoe at this lakefront venue was amazing! You can read all about the inspiration and the details in our feature on The Wedding Chicks.

Truckee Wedding This winter Fred and Betty said their I do's at the Cottonwood restaurant in Truckee! After a beautiful ceremony under a candlelit chandelier, everyone proceeded to the Cedar House Sports Hotel to celebrate! The bride wore a stunning Tara Keely princess gown that flowed effortlessly down the aisle next to the birch candle holders and her deep red cala lily bouquet! Hattie from Art in Bloom, created beautiful white and green flower arrangements that paired perfectly with Cedar House's organic design.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | First Looks

We all look forward to it: the instant a bride and groom first see each other. We feel their love and their joy in knowing they are a mere aisle length away from "happily ever after." My eyes well up almost every time - it never gets old! However, many modern couples are choosing to break from tradition and share this moment before the wedding. The reason? To enjoy a few quiet minutes alone AND to get photos out of the way so that they can enjoy the entire celebration! You know you are going to want fabulous photos of your wedding day, so instead of trying to squeeze everything into 1 hour, take your time and do it before the wedding! Here are a few fab first looks!

Tahoe Unveiled's Weekly Juice!

This week on our sister site we got all giddy from two gorgeous weddings at Northstar & The Ritz Carlton, saw the beauty in tying the knot under a beautiful tree, were bowled over in laughter with hilarious & unique wedding images, and were delighted to see how blue glass centerpieces can be both vintage and glamorous. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm ready for Springtime! I can practically smell the fresh grass and juicy fruit of the upcoming summer months - I don't know if I have cabin fever from all this rain or what, but I'm ready for a new season!!

Using varying glass bottles as a table centerpiece or table marker is a great conversation starter and the blue glass will photograph beautifully. The bottles you’ve collected will show the love you put here to read the rest of the post!

Today's glamorous affair comes straight from Northstar fairytale land with it's amazing ceremony location, gorgeous couple, here to read the rest of the post!

This absolutely gorgeous wedding has me thinking about Spring….bright sunshine, cold beverages, and warm weather are the perfect accompaniments to the season! This wedding has all of those lovely details and here to read the rest of the post!

Outdoor weddings have endless possibilities – the decor is pre-set in the scenery and everything photographs with that perfect outdoor light.  And a ceremony under a big tree is the icing on the cake.  A large tree is a great point here to read the rest of the post!

Over the last year, I have watched my roommate and her fiancé pore over hundreds of wedding magazines, myriad photographer websites, and through countless pictures on their friends’ Facebook here to read the rest of the post!

Fab Find | Save the Veil

Outdoor wedding ceremonies can provide for gorgeous images of the bride being softly windblown with her veil trailing every so delicately behind her. What may not be so photogenic is our sometimes extremely strong Tahoe wind that can blow your veil right off of your perfectly coiffed head! Thanks to the brilliantly designed Save the Veil weight magnets, your veil will stay put for the entire duration of your ceremony and into dinner and dancing. These magnets are subtle, come in a variety of different styles such as mother of pearl or Swarovski crystal and can be easily fastened and removed without damaging your veil - brilliant!
